Mother’s Day is just two weeks away.
Is there a mother in your life who deserves to be honored? Your own mother or “mother-in-love,” someone who has been like a mother to you or, perhaps, the mother of your own children?
This Mother’s Day, why not spend a little extra time and touch her heart in a meaningful and lasting way?
Don’t just say “thank you” for all she does in 2016. Tell her why she is so special to you.
Here are some simple but heartwarming ideas for affirming that special woman in your life:
- Fill a mason jar with popsicle sticks: Write various characteristics that you love about the mother on the popsicle sticks. The sticks can be placed in the jar as though they were flowers. Tie a ribbon around the jar.
- Write her a letter that expresses your love for her and focuses on the things that make her so precious to you. - Create a word cloud of all her special character qualities and put it in a simple frame. Create your own on a small canvas writing the words with a Sharpie or use a web site for creating word clouds.
- Make a photo book using pictures to illustrate her many beautiful attributes. Many photo sites (i.e. www.Shutterfly.com ) will make small, soft covered books that don’t require a lot of work to prepare. Gather a group of special pictures and put one or two descriptive, affirming words as a caption under each picture. The theme of the book could be “Things I Love About you, Mom.”
- On her Mother’s Day card, write a few sentences focusing on the character qualities that make her so special to you.
Just as facets on a diamond make the gem sparkle, her character qualities are what make the mother you love so beautiful.
None of these suggestions are expensive.
What do they require?
Time.
Being intentional.
Focusing not just on what she does, but who she is.
Her essence.
